New equipment

As a consequence of out 'philosophy' we're rather critical in evaluating the sonically and technically qualities of new equipment. Generally spoken these qualities must be higher than average within the price-range concerned.

In our opinion innovation and technical 'know how' have to serve the bettering of the quality of the sound or the durability of the equipment. A improvement of almost meaningless specifications is no 'real' innovation. So, in the selection of brands we look to the quality of the equipment as well as to the business vision of the audio-company of that brand.

 

Our attitude is critical about the following statements, which are, however, generally accepted:

  • Whatever is new, is better
  • Whatever is more expensive is better
  • You don't listen to products of a brand which is unknown

 

Further, we're equally critical about some developments of some 'great' audio-brands.

 

Some brand succeeded in getting a pompous image. To own a product of that mark has become a status symbol. This has nothing to do with audio.

Developments of prices of some brands are not good for the future of the audio-lover. Only some social classes are able to buy, while it is the question if the quality of the sound is still a real or the most important issue (see the previous point).

 

Happily, on the other side there exists brands which are totally dedicated to the true to nature reproduction and durability for prices as reasonable as possible.
