« MONDE
DE LA MUSIQUE »
October 1999« Chock » monde de la musique It
is quite difficult, for a floorstanding speaker of this price, to have at the
same time a lot of puff and to be graceful, to have sharp eyes and the litheness
of a gymnast. The Arpeggione, however, succeeds in combining all those
qualities, at the expense of some unavoidable- in this price category at least-
compromises. Thus, the lower midrange appears somewhat compact and dark, as if
it was colored. The piano revealed very well this slight signature. There is no
doubt this speaker was designed to be associated with « dryer «
electronics than ours. The
Arpeggione, however, rest on solid foundations (the bass is rich and
well-defined) which allow a very elegant and natural harmonic punctuation. The
top of the spectrum, particularly tasty, delights the listener thanks to its
lightness and its creaminess. The treble is never sharp (violin, cembalo) nor
thick (marvellously sensual voices). But
above all, the Arpeggione win us over by the intensity of their colors
and by their freedom, a quality peculiar to all Jean-Marie Reynaud's speakers.
The music never sounds strained or violented. On the contrary, these speakers
litteraly radiate into the room, filling it with ease. The slightest nuances,
the dynamic shifts and the attacks - everything that constitute the soul of the
music - sound with a disconcerting evidence. With the Arpeggione, music becomes
an absolute and constant delight. Music lovers will love it !. «
HAUTE FIDELITE »
November 1999 «
Best buy » Haute Fidélité magazine One
single word could sum up what emerges from our listening session :
balance... The whole of the spectrum is translated respecfully and precisely. It
is truly pleasant to hear this speaker reproduce the essence of the musical
message without ornaments of any kind. Listening to cembalo solos, for example,
doesn't reveal any treble harshness. No sibilant sound, no distorsion. Music is
so relaxing we could play the same track again and again, without no fatigue.
Cranking up the volume is a strong temptation, and even in this case, the music
looses nothing of its refinement. When
playing music recorded under large vaults, the soundstage is recreated with
precision and, for once, in its three dimensions. Though performing stereophonic
separation is an easy task, even for the worst speakers, volume and depth are
another matter. Accuracy is so great that echoes are reproduced even in a small
listening room... From piccolo solos to symphonic orchestras, the message stays
transparent... The most astonishing thing is the bass region, deep and full of
energy, never boomy. The Arpeggione is given for 45 hZ, but these are
really there ! Combining these speakers with the TWIN MK2 will
achieve a extremely coherent (timbres and imaging) multi-channel installation.
Indeed, the Arpeggione don't content themselves with being excellent in a
stereo system. What else to say about such goddesses, apart from repeating they
are balanced and accurate, transparent and delighting ? Compare them with
their competitors, the result will be obvious : the Arpeggione crank
it up a notch ! An experience not to be missed. Conclusion :
congratulations to Jean-Marie Reynaud for all the qualities of the Arpeggione.
This speaker from another world will bring you intense sensations thanks to
their sonic coherency, from one end of the spectrum to the other. Let's add they
are easy to drive, and recommend the designer from Barbezieux to be ready to
increase his production ! «

Son vidéo Magazine The
Arpeggione respect Jean-Marie Reynaud's philosophy, with their incredible
limpidity and fluidity. The notes seem to slide from one to the other, smoothly,
without a hitch. The imaging is consequently improved, and will delight those
looking for the right positionning of the performers. The dynamic capabilities
also have to place of honour : while being lively, they don't hide the bass
region. The midrange is sweet but present, the treble delicate but intense. At
high levels, these speakers never sound aggressive, only slightly muddled. A
great achievement in this price range. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
